Description Foothills to alpine life zones, gravelly, rocky areas, tundra; short erect perennial to 3 inches tall, stout hairy stems; basal, oblong-elliptic leaves, covered with fine hairs; clusters of tiny golden yellow flowers, each less than 1/4-inch across, with protruding stamens and styles.
