Description Life zones and habitat: Subalpine and alpine. Boggy areas, streamsides, wetlands.
Plant: Small erect perennial 4 to 8 inches tall.
Leaves: Kidney-shaped basal leaves 3/4 to 1-1/2 inch across with petioles 1 to 4 inches long; small bract-like leaf midway on stem.
Inflorescence: Single white saucer-shaped blossom with 5 petals fringed at base, 5 fertile stamens and 5 sterile stamens. ,
