Description Life zones and habitat: Plains to subalpine life zones, widely distributed.
Plant: Erect perennial up to 30 inches tall, slightly hairy stem.
Leaves: Basal and (a few) stem leaves, oblanceolate, lanceolate or linear, sparsely hairy and up to 5 inches long.
Inflorescence: Small flower heads in groups, each with short white ray flowers (petals) with toothed ends, yellow stamens and hairy green/purplish phyllaries.
