Description Life zones and habitat: Foothills to subalpine. Forest, especially conifer understory.
Plant: Erect perennial about 12 inches tall.
Leaves: Basal narrowly elliptic to ovate leaves with pointed tips, dark green with white midrib and often white veins.
Inflorescence: Spike of many (10 plus) small white orchid-like blossoms arranged in a spiral or on one side only.
