Description Life zones and habitat: Montane and subalpine. Wet areas along stream banks, ponds, forest openings.
Plant: Erect perennial 2 to 4 feet tall, leafy stems.
Leaves: Stem leaves elliptic to lanceolate, about 4 inches long, somewhat glandular.
Inflorescence: Clusters of several large aster-like composite heads about 2-1/2 inches across, 8 to 15 ray flowers (petals), yellow disk flowers.
