Description Life zones and habitat: Montane and subalpine. Meadows, openings, woodlands; widely distributed.
Plant: Upright perennial to 30 inches tall, erect, woolly stems.
Leaves: Narrow, alternately-attached stem leaves to 4 inches long, green and smooth upper surfaces, woolly beneath.
Inflorescence: Small white flowers in tight clusters with no ray flowers (petals). Tiny pale yellow/tan disk flowers surrounded by pearly-white bracts.
