Description Subalpine to alpine life zones, ground cover in forests, along stream and pond banks; very short shrub usually less than 8 inches tall, up to 12 inches tall; smooth, shiny, oval leaves up to 1-1/2 inch long, toothed edges; small urn-shaped nodding red, pinkish or white flowers, no sepals; blue berries 1/4-inch across.
