Description Life zones and habitat: Montane and subalpine. Woodlands and dry rocky slopes.
Plant: Erect, spreading or trailing shrub, 2 to 4 feet tall; older stems with shreddy bark; new twigs with minute hairs and may be reddish.
Leaves: Deciduous stem leaves to 1/4 to 3/4-inch long, opposite, oval to elliptic, green on top and pale green with many veins showing below.
Inflorescence: Arising from leaf axils, one or two drooping flowers with narrow bell-shaped pink-white corollas (petals) about 1/4 to 3/8-inch long.
