Description Life zones and habitat: Subalpine and alpine; around lakes, streams and in moist meadows.
Plant: Low spreading to erect shrub up 30 inches tall.
Leaves: Opposite, evergreen, leathery ovate to oval, elliptic or lanceolate leaves, dark green above, white and hairy beneath.
Inflorescence: Solitary or loose clusters of showy pink cup-shaped flowers 3/4-inch across, 5 petals.
