Description Life zones and habitat: Plains to subalpine; widespread; meadows, forests, streamsides, disturbed areas.
Plant: Erect, single-stemmed annual, 2 to 20 inches tall, stem slightly hairy.
Leaves: Basal and stem leaves, lanceolate to narrowly elliptic, 3/8 to 2-3/8 inches long, slightly hairy, entire edges.
Inflorescence: Dense terminal cluster of multiple small pink flowers, 1/4-inch long, 5 petals, surrounded by leafy bracts.
