Description |
Life zones and habitat:
Foothills and montane; dry pine forests. Plant: Erect annual lacking chlorophyll; stout reddish to purplish brown stems up to 3 feet tall, in clusters. Leaves: No green leaves; scales growing on the stalk can protrude outward giving the appearance of leaves. Inflorence: Nodding, yellow to red urn-shaped blossoms in a long raceme.
