Description |
Life zones and habitat: Foothills to subalpine; spruce-fir forests. Plant: Under-story, spreading bush; dense branches, 8 to 40 inches long. Leaves: Opposite, smooth, leathery, evergreen, dark green blades, oblanceolate to elliptic or ovate, from 1/2 to 1-1/2 inches long, with minutely serrate margins. Inflorescence: Very tiny pinkish red flowers less than 1/8 inch across, 4 petals and sepals. Bloom Period: June to August. References: "Flora of Colorado" by Jennifer Ackerfield and SEINet. |
